The Silmarillion
The story of The Silmarillion is generally a brief outline by J.R.R. Tolkien about the Lord of the rings and middle earth. The name The Silmarillion is derived from three powerful jewels in the story called the silmarils. In the story of The Silmarillion, the silmarils have powerful seductive powers like the one ring to rule them all. However, the silmarils promote greed instead of cruelty. If the silmarils are undisturbed, they promote peace and prosperity. The gods who created middle earth were in dispute with each other because the seductive powers of the silmarils were corrupting them. Interesting backrounds are given in this book, an example is the orcs, which are a cross-breed between elves and beasts. Orcs are constantly tortured by their own souls and hate themselves for who they are. They only serve their lord in fear of death. Later on in the book, the force of corruption takes place. As the book progresses on, the story begins to be more familiar with the lord of the rings and the hobbit. Throughout the book there are 3 different ages and each one has a totally different type of middle earth. Lots of other things happen in the book too, but I can't tell you anymore, you'll just have to read the book. Bookhooks report by Conner R.
