Express parallel ideas in parallel form. Do not express nonparallel ideas in parallel form.

Do not violate the principle of parallelism in seeking to avoid repeating a word. Doing so can confuse the reader by implying a nonexistent distinction (in this case, between creature and monster).

Frieda ate peanuts for breakfast, lunch, and for dinner.

Henry likes walking in the woods and to swim in the ocean.

We can go out to a restaurant, a movie, or just spend the evening at home.

They either will visit Bosnia or Serbia.

This policy has not only enraged Tories but Labourites as well.
